We’re just over a month away from MLB’s trade deadline on July 30, and more reports are coming out each day. Which teams will become sellers, and which will be surprise buyers hoping to strengthen their postseason push? It’s too early to tell, for some.
While several teams are worth monitoring, perhaps more importantly, multiple trade candidates face an uncertain future with their current organizations.
Garrett Crochet, Jazz Chisholm named MLB’s most likely players to be traded soon

Recently, The Athletic conducted an MLB survey, polling various current GMs and executives around the league, asking which players were most likely to be traded before July’s deadline.
One of the players mentioned was Chicago’s Garrett Crochet, who’s been a frequent target in trade rumors already this summer. Executives tabbed Crochet as the best starting pitcher available at the deadline and also the one who’s most likely to be traded. Still just 25 and under team control through 2026, Crochet is expected to net the White Sox a massive trade return.
The poll results revealed that “almost every team in baseball” believes Miami’s Tanner Scott will be coming out of the bullpen for another team later this season. Currently sitting with an ERA under 2 entering MLB games today , Scott seems like a sure bet to be traded according to execs.
As for everyday players, executives highlighted Marlins star Jazz Chisholm Jr as the position player most likely to be traded before the deadline passes. A power and speed threat capable of playing the infield or outfield, Chisholm could make many ballclubs much better this season.
Everyone wants to know if the White Sox would trade Luis Robert Jr. While there are several rumors involving the All-Star, many executives still feel Chicago is just asking way too much in exchange for their centerfielder. Yet, they also indicated that we could see Philadelphia make a hard push in trade discussions for Robert.
