The union representing Hollywood TV and film crew members has reached a tentative agreement with the major studios.

The International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees, the union representing the TV and film crew members, announced the tentative deal with the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television producers on Tuesday night.

“Some of the proposed changes in the Basic tentative agreement include scale rate increases of 7%, 4%, and 3.5% over the three-year term,” according to the union. “Hourly workers will receive triple time (3x hourly) when any workday exceeds 15 elapsed hours, all On Call classifications will now receive double time on the 7th day of the workweek, and additional increases in pay will take effect on non-dramatic productions under the Videotape Supplemental Agreement.”

In addition, the studios will put $670 million into the Motion Picture Industry Pension and Health Plans.

The union also said the tentative deal includes protections around AI “including language that ensures no employee is required to provide Al prompts in any manner that would result in the displacement of any covered employee.”

Entertainment lawyer Jonathan Handel told KNX News’ Jon Baird this is an “enormous” deal.

“The industry is in a very, very difficult place with content spending slashed, box office down, linear television in decline, and streaming not [being] profitable for most of the streamers,” he said. “The industry could not afford, either on the labor side or the corporate side, another strike.”

IATSE members still need to vote on the deal.

Negotiations between IATSE and the AMPTP started in March.
