An amusement park in North Carolina has found themselves faced with a lawsuit after a woman claims one of their rides paralysed her husband .

The woman claimed that her husband rode the Swamp Fox roller coaster at Family Kingdom back in July 2021. After riding the wooden coaster, her husband suffered an acute injury to his spinal cord, resulting in quadriplegia, according to the lawsuit.

The suit alleges that the roller coaster was not properly examined, creating unsafe conditions and making it “more dangerous than a typical roller coaster.”

It reads: “Defendants knew or should have known that the roller coaster required extensive maintenance and refurbishment prior to use and encouraging persons to use the roller coaster when it was unreasonably dangerous and unsafe with a significant potential to cause serious injuries to its users.”

According to the amusement park's website, the roller coaster was built in 1966, stands 72 feet tall and has a track of around 2,400 feet. Their website states that it has undergone several renovations over the years.

According to the lawsuit, the plaintiff is suing for loss of companionship, fellowship, aid, assistance, company and more.

Family Kingdom was also sued back in 2019, after a girl riding the same roller coaster, Swamp Fox, also said that she suffered an injury. In her lawsuit, she claimed that the roller coaster rose up off its tracks and slammed down, aggravating a pre-existing back injury.
