As Teen Mom star Amber Portwood and her fiancé Gary Wayt's call off their engagement , one source has shed light on the reason behind the breakdown of their love.
After Amber launched a country-wide search for her missing fiancé last month, the 34-year-old reality star and Gary have decided to call it quits on their relationship. This comes after Gary suddenly disappeared from their hotel room together in North Carolina with no explanation leaving Amber frantic for answers. After Amber issued a missing persons report, police searched for several days for Gary with witnesses spotting him thousands of miles away in New Mexico.
After almost a week of searching, Gary called off the investigation himself informing police that he was safe and sound . But although Gary has been found, inside sources have claimed that the situation is too much for Amber and Gary to bounce back from together.

In the days following the end of the search, an insider told US Weekly : "They’ve decided that it’s over between them and their engagement is off. They have too much to overcome to move forward together," and added: "Amber took off the engagement ring and it’s the best thing."
They continued: "She is sad and she cares about him, but she is willing to see that he is not the right guy for her. She wants to be with someone who accepts her fully.” The source went on to claim that the pairs's recent engagement caused some "family tension" on Gary's side, with his family members concerned over content they discovered about Amber on the internet from her previous relationships.
The source close to Amber said that this was difficult for the reality star to come to terms with as she has been "trying so hard to move past it." And while the insider did not specify what exactly Gary's family saw, Amber does have a criminal past. Back in 2019 Amber was arrested for allegedly attacking her ex Andrew Glennon while he held their child. She later pleaded guilty to charges of domestic battery, criminal recklessness committed with a deadly weapon and domestic battery committed in the presence of a child less than 16 years old.
And while Amber faced the run-in with the law, she has since expressed her regret over the incident. During a Teen Mom OG episode, she said: "I just have a lot of guilt of not being aware of myself more than I should have. And I really do feel ashamed that I didn’t have that because I should after all the things I’ve done to change.”
