Life feels a lot better with a good friend by your side. No one knows this more than one senior Boxer named Butchie whose new companion Moo the Berle Frenchie has given him a new lease on life.

On June 22, 2024, TikTok user @.moody.moo posted a sweet montage of Butchie and Moo's relationship and it's the sweetest thing. See their precious bond below!

"A puppy for our senior dog," the clip's caption says. In the 23-second video that writes, "POV: You get your lonely senior dog a puppy to love," we get a glimpse of Butchie and Moo lying happily together before the Boxer "slowly starts becoming a playful little puppy himself."

"He shows her he is a gentle giant," the words continue as the two frolic. "You see him start to love his life again. With a new best friend to share his life with. This is your sign to get your senior dog a puppy to love."

The final shot is the two of them posing side-by-side like the BFFs they are and it's making the internet feel all the good things.

"Awww, I think all dogs need another doggy pal," one person commented. "Such a beautiful family," another wrote. "That’s his little buddy now. They're gonna cause so much chaos together," another joked.

Why Senior Dogs Make the Best Companions For Puppies

Senior dogs have so much to offer their younger friends. Tri-Valley Animal Rescue says before getting your senior dog a companion , first assess their health to be sure they can physically and mentally sustain the energy of a puppy.

In the event there are signs of confusion, failure to recognize family members, or irritable behavior, it's best to consult your vet before adding a new member as it may signal dementia. Other health issues like blindness, deafness, or other life-altering issues may make your senior more irritable and less likely to want a new friend.

Health aside, senior dogs are amazing pets who have a lot of love to give. A puppy's activity level may encourage your usually sedentary senior to move around a bit more and have a little fun. They're also already potty-trained, have basic commands down, and know what not to chew, so they can help teach a new pup the ways of the house. Adding a puppy will also breathe new life into a senior's life by making things exciting again, just as you want to see them in their golden years.

We're so happy to see Butchie live his best life again, thanks to you, little Moo!
