Mandy Moore Opens Up About the Challenges of Being Pregnant with Toddlers

Being pregnant is physically and emotionally draining under the best of circumstances...so when you have added challenges — like toddlers — the experience can really be a struggle!
Even celebrities have a tough time coping with the combination of pregnancy and small children, as 40-year-old actress Mandy Moore revealed on a recent episode of The View . Moore, who has two kids under the age of 4 and is currently seven months pregnant with her third child, said that she’s feeling “really good,” but admits that “chasing two toddlers around is not for the faint of heart.”
“'I feel really grateful,' Moore noted. 'Grateful to my body that it’s able to do this. It’s so wild being a woman...I was told that I had cartilage on top of my uterus and that I’d have to have some special surgery before I could ever get pregnant ,” she explained. “Lo and behold, that ended up not being the case. But it was a year of going back and forth and trying to figure out exactly what was happening with my body.'
Moore continued, 'Everybody’s fertility journey is so vastly different . I’m glad there’s more of a dialogue in helping destigmatize the conversation around it.'"
Moore and her husband, Taylor Goldsmith, have two sons (Gus, 3, and Ozzie, 19 months). The new baby will be the couple's first daughter!
How to Deal With Being Pregnant When You Have a Toddler (or Toddlers)
If there are grandparents or other people around who are willing to be of assistance, asking for help is super important if you're pregnant with little kids , according to What to Expect.
"Ask your partner (or Grandma if she lives nearby) to take your little one out for ice cream or a visit to the park . While they’re away, spend some quiet time resting, shopping online for a double stroller or going through old baby clothes. And don’t be shy about asking for little favors, either. Have a friend return your library books or pick up groceries."
Also be sure to cut yourself plenty of slack when it comes to things like chores.
"So the rugs aren’t vacuumed every day and the clean laundry stays in the basket longer than you like. No one is going to notice but you. The priority should be your health and wellness and the needs of your growing family. Find shortcuts for the rest."
As for playing with your little ones, find things to do that keep them busy but don't require a ton of effort from you.
"Puzzles, board games, kid-friendly video games, coloring, a tea party with the stuffed animal collection — engaging with your toddler from the comfort of the couch or on the floor will save your feet, your back and your sanity. Suggest you play hospital and you’re the patient lying on the couch with your feet propped on a pillow. Or break out a few movies you can watch together."
When times get tough, remember — before long, your baby and your big kid will be playing together!
