Death investigation underway of person found in Spring River

JASPER COUNTY, Mo. (KOAM) - Jasper County authorities are investigating the death of a person found in Spring River.

According to the Jasper County Sheriff's Office Tuesday afternoon about 4:15 p.m. they were alerted by a trucker on I-49 bridge above Spring River that he saw a body in the waters below. Deputies responded and located a body.

The deceased individual has been identified and next of kin are notified. However name is not being released to the public at this time.

Initial investigation lead the Deputies to believe the person may have jumped off the bridge.

An autopsy has been scheduled as part of the investigation.

The Jasper County Sheriff's Office, Carthage Police Department and the Missouri State Highway Patrol are conducting the ongoing investigation.
