LANCASTER COUNTY, Pa. (WHTM)– A man is facing charges after police say he was shooting in the direction multiple people at a Lancaster County pond.

According to Northern Lancaster County Regional Police, Joseph Moore, of Berks County, was arrested and charged for the shooting on the 200 block of Doe Run Road on June 15.

Police say it was reported by dispatch that multiple people were riding ATVS and firing weapons. Three people spoke to police saying they saw bullets skipping off the pond in their direction and individuals firing in their direction.

According to a criminal complaint, there was a firepit and dirt berm that a group of men were shooting into which was in the direction of the pond and an elementary school.

Officers then made contact with Moore who admitted the gun was his, which police say was a 9mm Stoeger STR-9C pistol and was shooting in the direction of the alleged victims who were fishing at the pond.

Moore admitted to firing between 16 to 18 rounds and said that he was not riding a four-wheeler while he was shooting, according to the complaint.

The shots fired in the direction of the people fishing caused them to law down in the grass because they thought they were “intentionally being fired upon,” police said in the complaint.

Moore faces misdemeanor charges of recklessly endangering another person and terroristic threats causing serious public inconvenience.
