One of the first things most homeowners upgrade in their houses is their kitchens. It's easy to paint lime green living room walls a different color, remove the funky wallpaper in the entryway, or even hang a curtain to hide that old tile in the bathroom shower, but it's not so simple to easily upgrade a kitchen , that's why they are first on the list for a remodel.

As sought after as a nice kitchen remodel is, it is also very expensive. Even if you opt out of purchasing all new appliances the prices start adding up quickly for things like paint, light fixture, kitchen cabinet hardware, and tiles. One DIYer shared with us a genius hack for covering dingy old countertops in an easy DIY fashion that actually makes it look like you have real butcher block counters, and we are wildly impressed, check it out!

The woman countertops before were an old 90s-style composite that looks like speckled stone. Definitely not the sort of style most people are going after in today's era. Her faux butcherblock hack is perfect for her style of countertops, and the end transformation looks so natural.

    Simple DIY Kitchen Upgrades

Cabinets. Old cabinets are an easy fix if you don’t wanna spend the cash on new ones! You can fix funky retro trim by sanding it to a flat edge. You can sand all the old reddish orange stain off and apply an updated stain or go for a layer of paint.

Floors. Super easy fix! Either DIY tile them, or don’t even fuss with the old floors and add thin vinyl over the space. You could also do tongue and groove wood replacement for a warm touch.

Tile backsplash. They make stickable “tiles” that work perfectly for a short kitchen backsplash . Or you could go all out and watch tutorials on a real DIYed tile backsplash.
