(SOUTHERN COLORADO) — The Nature & Wildlife Discovery Center (NWDC) has announced that they have temporarily closed their Mountain Campus on Wednesday, June 26, to support the Oak Ridge Fire firefighting efforts.

NWDC emphasized that the Pueblo Mountain Park is not currently in danger, but the decision was made in response to the Pueblo County Sheriff’s request during the 2:30 p.m. briefing on Tuesday, June 25, that those who do not live in Beulah avoid the area. This will keep roads clear for emergency services and potential evacuees.

The closure of the Mountain Campus is effective immediately and will remain closed to visitors until further notice. During the closure, locals will not have vehicle access to the park and are encouraged to limit their use to essential activities only. Key personnel will remain on site.
