CEDAR COUNTY, Mo. — Many in Cedar County are without power Wednesday after storms rolled through early this morning.

According to the Cedar County Office of Emergency Management, the area saw moderate storm damage. County crews were busy clearing debris and tree limbs from roads.

Kirk Tener lives just west of Stockton, and he said this storm took him by surprise.

“It hit quick, it hit hard, and it rolled through in no time at all,” Tener said. “And we heard a little bit of hail tapping on the roof early this morning, the dogs were a little nervous but other than that everything looks pretty good, better than what I anticipated.”

Tener said he didn’t realize how much damage the storm caused until he found couldn’t get out of his driveway because of a tree blocking the path. When he started checking his property for other damage, he discovered parts of his fence had been knocked down and a few of his cattle were in the road.

Tener’s power has been out since about 4 a.m., and it may not be fixed until later this afternoon. He said all of his animals are safe and accounted for, and although he has a day full of fixing fences and cleaning up his property ahead of him, he said it could have been much worse.
