‘Effectively Fire’: Marjorie Taylor Greene Proposes Amendment on House Floor to Cut Mayorkas’ Salary

Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) proposed an amendment on the House floor to cut Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas’ salary.

During a debate for consideration over H.R. 8752, the Homeland Security Appropriations Act, Greene proposed an amendment that would “effectively fire” Mayorkas by cutting his wage due to the rise in undocumented migrant crossings. The bill provides $64.8 billion for the Department of Homeland Security for the 2025 budget, an increase of $2.9 billion.

Earlier this year, the House passed impeachment articles against Mayorkas over the Biden administration’s handling of the migrant crisis at the U.S. southern border. Mayorkas became the first cabinet member to be impeached since the 19th century.

Greene suggested during her speech that since Mayorkas has been impeached then he should not be given a wage.

My amendment would effectively fire Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas as secretary of the Homeland Security for the atrocious job that he is doing with our southern border and our overall security of our nation. Earlier this year, the House of Representatives passed my impeachment articles against Secretary Mayorkas, making him the first cabinet secretary to be impeached since 1876. If the House impeached Secretary Mayorkas, we should certainly not pay him. Here are some real life consequences of Alejandro Mayorkas says failures. Twelve year old Jocelyn Nungaray was strangled to death and dumped in a creek in Houston, Texas, by two illegals from Venezuela who were released under Secretary Mayorkas earlier this year.

I can’t understand and comprehend why my colleagues across the aisle want to keep this going. Twelve years old, this child was 12 years old. Kayla Marie Hamilton was raped and strangled to death by an illegal MS-13 gang member who was apprehended but subsequently released under Mayorkas. By the way, he was covered in gang tattoos. They knew exactly what he was, but Secretary Mayorkas says, under his leadership, these monsters get released into our country.
