    Tis' the season of all things DIY. Homeowners, crafters, and renovators alike are flocking to their local lumber yards to stock up on 2x8’s, 2x6’s, 2x4’s, and the trusty plywood to complete their projects.

    Back when we were in the thick of the pandemic and people were stuck at home, DIY projects became the hottest thing, since people didn’t have much less to do with their free time and nowhere to go . With production also slowing down lumber prices skyrocketed. Since then they have gone down a bit but haven’t returned to pre-pandemic prices, much like everything else.

Well, one DIYer spilled the beans to us on a secrete these stores don’t want you to know , you can actually take home wood- and lots of it- for free.

    We have seen people scoring big in the back of the store's discounted lumber rack, filled with discounted boards that are warped, split, or have been cut to different sizes.

    But to one up it all you need to do is ask an associate if they have any extra and free lumber in the back and nine out of 10 times they will happily hand over a bundle to get it out of their space.
