The National Weather Service in Mobile issued another heat advisory for Escambia and Santa Rosa counties Wednesday, with more triple-digit heat on its way.

NWS Mobile says they expect the heat index readings to reach 108 degrees before the day is over, with the heat advisory lasting until at least 7 p.m. However, there is a chance of storms to roll through Wednesday afternoon and evening.

"A few storms could become strong and capable of producing locally strong wind gusts in excess of 40 mph, small hail, frequent cloud to ground lightning strikes, and locally heavy rainfall," NWS says.

NWS Mobile advises residents to stay hydrated and remain indoors if possible. Take extra precaution if spending time out doors and never leave people or pets in vehicles.

Prolonged exposure to high temperatures can cause heat stress, leading to heat exhaustion or heat stroke.
