An incredible Irish singer has received a coveted America's Got Talent standing ovation with a heart-breaking tribute to her late nephew .

Stephanie Rainey met judges Simon Cowell , Howie Mandel, Heidi Klum, and Sofia Vergara on Tuesday to sing Please Don't Go, a viral track she released in 2015 dedicated to her nephew, Fionn, who died a day before his first birthday.

Fionn tragically passed away following a battle with meningitis. The song has garnered close nearly 10 million streams on Spotify and has now made it across the Atlantic , with Cowell dubbing it "the best song of the year".

The 36-year-old from Co Cork told the judges: "I've had a very rollercoaster career . This song I'm going to play has had quite a big moment in the past... the journey from then to now has been hard.

"[The music industry ] is tough. You have to be resilient and when the downs come you have to be able to pick yourself back up, so here I am. It took me a long time to write a song [about Fionn]. I was about to give up music .
