Whether you’re perfecting your backhand or strutting down city streets , the tennis skirt offers a blend of comfort, movement, and style. Are Tennis Skirts Still in Style?

“Tennis skirts are always a versatile item to have in your wardrobe,” says Heather Dunphy , Stylist and Creative Director. “Tenniscore is trending in a big way thanks to Zendaya and the Challengers’ press tour. Nearly every brand has a version of the tennis skirt on their website at the moment, from Skims to Miu Miu.” She thinks it’s a big indicator of how on trend the sporty item still is. “I’ll personally be pairing mine with an oversized football jersey, knee high socks, and a colorful Nike Cortez sneaker or loafer,” states Dunphy .

What Fabric Is Good for a Tennis Skirt?

“Fabric-wise, I think keep it simple with viscose or cotton but if you want something different, I’d go for Boucle,” recommends Dunphy. This type of fabric allows for moisture-wicking, or the ability of fabric to absorb sweat and water away from the skin into the fabric’s surface, so it’s able to dry and evaporate.

It’s time to incorporate the tennis skirt into your fashion repertoire. Luckily, there are plenty of varying styles that will fit in with your personal aesthetic. Shop some of our favorite ones on the market (and a few recommendations from Dunphy as well).
