I know you all remember the DIY community's pool noodle craze . I mean, on some pages it's still very much going on! People have used pool noodles to create headboards, intricate wall art, and even weight-bearing chairs. So when we saw that the newest DIY trend involves hula hoops. we were not the least bit shocked. This just sees like the natural progression of things.
However, we did not expect this DIY to turn out as well as it did. Who would've thought that a few plastic toys from the Dollar Tree could so easily turn into a stunning piece of outdoor furniture? We sure didn't!
If you're ever in need of some DIY project inspiration, then the Home Talk TikTok channel ( @hometalk ) is definitely one to check out. With over one million followers and over 12 million likes, Home Talk is the Internet's go-to virtual DIY community space and you can find just about any type of project, from solar lights to floral displays. They always make sure to use the most affordable and accessible supplies; this one is a perfect example!
Want a new side table for your outdoor space? Skip the online shopping and head straight to your local Dollar Tree. Chances are you'll find everything you need right there and you won't have to spend more than $20.
What You Need to Build a Side Table Out of Hula Hoops
I know, it may sounds a little crazy. But the final product actually looks so good!
Here's what you're going to need if you want to replicate this craft:
- (6) identical hula hoops
- black spray paint
- zip ties
- twine or string
- (1) circular wooden tray
You can find all of this at your local Dollar Tree or craft store!
First, spray paint your hula hoops black. (Obviously you can opt for any color you desire!) Once those have dried, you're going to zip tie them together into a table shape. Link four together in a loop, and then add one on top and one on the bottom. It should make a square-like formation!
Next, grab your twine and thread it over the top for a makeshift table top. It doesn't need to be super intricate, just sturdy enough to hold the wooden tray on top. That will be your actual table top! So easy and so cheap.
