Rev. Dr. Gwendolyn E. Boyd to speak at Freedom Fund Awards at Bally’s

The Rock Island County Branch of the NAACP is hosting its annual Freedom Fund Image Awards and Scholarship Banquet fundraiser on Saturday, June 29 at 5 p.m. at Bally’s Quad Cities, 777 Bally Blvd. in Rock Island. The theme for this year is “Belonging: Diversity, Equity and Inclusion.” Doors open at 5 p.m. and tickets are available through Friday, June 28.

This year’s keynote speaker is Rev. Dr. Gwendolyn E. Boyd, a motivational speaker, preacher and education advocate. The evening includes gospel music, networking, and the presentation of academic scholarships to nine area seniors. In addition, 14 Rock Island County residents will be awarded the NAACP Image Award for their efforts to better the community.
