Lewis County to negotiate $1.56 million contract for 911 infrastructure improvements

Lewis County will enter negotiations with Day Management Corp., which does business as Day Wireless Systems, for improvements to the county’s 911 system infrastructure.

Based out of Milwaukie, Oregon, Day Wireless Systems was among three companies to submit proposals for the project, coming in with the lowest proposal of $1.56 million. RACOM Corp., based out of Marshalltown, Iowa, submitted a proposal of $2.16 million, while Zetron Inc., based out of Redmond, submitted a bid of $2.97 million.

During the Lewis County commissioners meeting on June 26, Jennifer Libby-Jones, director of 911 communications for Lewis County, said the proposal by Day Wireless Systems was both the lowest bid and the highest ranked proposal during the review process.

The three proposals were scored “based on their familiarity with public safety grade radio and microwave infrastructure needs,” previous experience with similar projects, bid amount and qualifications.

According to the proposal, Lewis County has obligated $4.5 million from the American Rescue Plan to improve “VHF radio infrastructure in order to improve the 911 infrastructure” in the county.
