After weeks of waiting, the world's finest basketball prospects finally know which NBA team they'll be representing in 2024.

The first day of this year's NBA Draft took place at the Barclays Center in New York, home of the Brooklyn Nets, on Wednesday. Several exciting superstars, including Zaccharie Risacher, Alexandre Sarr and Zach Edey, waited anxiously to discover their fate.

Bronny James, the son of Los Angeles Lakers icon LeBron, was among those to put his name forward for the draft. LeBron , who turns 40 in December, is eager to play with his 19-year-old son in the NBA before calling time on his glittering basketball career.

Yet James wasn't drafted on Wednesday. Risacher, as expected, was picked first by the Atlanta Hawks. He told ESPN shortly after being drafted: "Its a blessing, you know?

"So exciting. There's a lot of things and emotions right now. So I don't know what to say but it's definitely special and I'm so blessed. My family's here, I'm so happy to have them here with my friends. This is amazing. I don't know what to say. It's so special."

Sarr was picked second by the Washington Wizards, while Edey was the ninth pick thanks to the Memphis Grizzlies. "To be 7-foot-4, it's already a difference maker, there's nothing you can do against him on the floor," Phoenix Suns star Bradley Beal told Mirror US Sports earlier this year while discussing Edey. "He's dominant, he's the national player of the year and in the conversation every year for a reason.

"He could have been drafted last year, but he held back and now he's dominated college again. He's constantly proving himself, probably against a lot of naysayers who don't believe he can withstand that next step. But for me, I think he has a really good chance of making an impact in the league."
