BLOUNTVILLE, Tenn. (WJHL) — The Sullivan County Board of Education met Wednesday evening to discuss bus transportation contracts.

At the called meeting, board members approved a memorandum of understanding addressing how the school system’s transportation department will operate with contractors.

“One of the really nice things that we’ll be introducing is a GPS system, so we can tell where busses are on their routes,” Director of Schools Chuck Carter said. “We may be able to monitor the speeds of the busses. And so, we know that the safety is being watched carefully.”

Carter said the GPS system will allow parents to know where their students are on the route.
