Rounds of intense overnight thunderstorms rocked New Jersey, leaving thousands of residents without power Thursday morning. There were also multiple reports of storm damage, downed trees and power lines and road flooding throughout the state. The storms contained wind gusts of up to 60 mph, along with hail and heavy rain, leaving debris scattered across many roads.

The weather was also an issue for transit commuters. The Hudson-Bergen Light Rail service was suspended in Bayonne from 8th Street to 22nd Street due to downed trees. For Morris and Essex riders, the Gladstone Branch rail service resumed in both directions following earlier weather-related conditions. Travelers are advised to check the NJ Transit website for service information. "
