Alex Pereira Turns The Tables On Jiří Procházka Claiming He Was On Top In First Fight: 'Ask Him What He Thinks Of His Fight With Glover'

UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Alex Pereira has reminded Jiří Procházka about the importance of judging a fight as a whole.

The pair of 205-pound knockout artists are set to collide once again in this weekend's UFC 303 main event , topping an International Fight Week lineup that also includes the likes of Brian Ortega, Antony Smith, Ian Garry, and Michael "Venom" Page.

Saturday's main event offers a chance at redemption for "BJP," who was stopped in round two by "Poatan" at the Madison Square Garden-held UFC 295 event last November.

In recent months, Procházka has changed his original stance on the stoppage, insisting that it was indeed early on the part of Marc Goddard. During the Countdown episode for UFC 303 , the challenger also suggested that he was on top in the round until Pereira caught him.

But more than anyone, "Poatan" thinks his challenger should know the importance of judging a fight by its entirety...

Pereira Reacts To Procházka's Assessment Of UFC 295 Battle

During his appearance at UFC 303 media day on Wednesday, Pereira was asked about his upcoming opponent's comments regarding how their first fight was playing out in New York City .

The Brazilian dismissed any talk of the exchanges before the finishing sequence, noting that if Procházka is that focused on what happened before the stoppage, he should be asked about his last-gasp, come-from-behind win over Glover Teixeira.

"Well, I don't know. For me, honestly, I see the fight as a whole," Pereira said via his translator. "It doesn't matter how the fight had been playing (out), it's the result. So if he's like that, why don't you asked him what he thinks of his fight with Glover."

The Czech star won the light heavyweight gold in June 2022 by submitting Teixeira with under 30 seconds of the UFC 275 main event remaining . After four rounds, Procházka had already fallen too far behind on the scorecards to emerge victorious had the fight reached its conclusion.

Having been unseated by a serious shoulder injury months later, "BJP" is in pursuit of a return to the throne.
