RAINELLE, WV (LOOTPRESS) – Troopers responded to a burglary call where a shirtless intruder had entered a woman’s home and refused to leave.

On a warm Friday afternoon in June 2024, a Trooper responded to a distressing call reporting a burglary in the small town of Rainelle , West Virginia.

According to the dispatch from the Greenbrier County 911 Center , a woman living on Main Street had reported that a shirtless white male in pajama pants had forcibly entered her home. As the Troopers made their way to the scene, they picked up radio chatter indicating that Beckley Dispatch had also sent the Trooper to the Rainelle area regarding a complaint about a white male, seemingly intoxicated, who was yelling and stumbling in the middle of the road.

Upon arrival, the Trooper encountered the suspect – a thin, sweaty-haired white male wearing only grey pajama pants – on the side of U.S. Route 60. The Trooper observed what appeared to be marks on the man’s arms, potentially from intravenous drug use. The suspect identified himself as Nicholas D. Truman, the shirtless intruder. Meanwhile, the Rainelle Police Department’s Chief Evans had contacted the female victim at her home on Main Street.

The Trooper quickly secured the suspect and traveled the short distance to the victim’s residence. There, the troubled victim recounted her terrifying ordeal. She had been approaching her front door when it suddenly burst open, and the shirtless, pajama-clad man shoved her violently into the wall. Fearing for her safety, the victim told the intruder to leave, but he stubbornly remained inside her home. Desperate to defend herself, the victim grabbed a table lamp, at which point the man finally turned and exited the premises.

Visibly shaken and continuing to tremble, the victim positively identified the detained suspect as the man who had forced his way into her home. The Trooper then conferred with Deputy Rodriguez and Chief Evans, and the suspect, Nicholas D. Truman, was placed under arrest and charged with burglary, battery, and assault.
