Many area residents feel the effects of Wednesday morning storms

Newton County, MO – Some 4-staters are cleaning up the damage left by overnight storms. A line of storms broke through our area early yesterday morning leaving some people without power. Tree limbs and debris are scattered across residential streets. There have been no reports of injuries, but crews and residents have been working all day trying to get things back to normal.

Cherokee County, KS – A Cherokee County, Kansas jury found Billy Barker of Galena guilty of murder. 50-year-old Barker is accused of shooting and killing 27-year-old Levi Porter of Riverton in April of last year. The jury also found him guilty of being a felon in possession of a firearm and criminally carrying a weapon. Sentencing is scheduled for September 5th.
