After he was officially introduced as the newest head coach of the Los Angeles Lakers , JJ Redick set the record straight about the 'Mind the Game' podcast in his appearance on ESPN LA's Mason & Ireland. JJ noted that his renowned podcast, co-hosted with LeBron James, may still proceed in its operations in some capacity.

"I should have clarified [that] 'Mind the Game' may continue, just not with me," Redick declared . "I am going to have zero involvement in any sort of media production. I just want to be clear on that; I want to coach basketball and only coach basketball."

    'Mind the Game' lives on

This is an interesting clarification from Redick. During his introductory press conference , the rookie head coach notably announced that he has "excommunicated from the content space," ending his podcast and media involvement to focus on the Lakers job.

Launched in March, 'Mind the Game' drew success for its unique basketball discussion that differs entirely from the other podcasts. Partnered with LBJ, Redick emphasized analysis of the game's X's and O's. It is presented by Uninterrupted and ThreeFourTwo Productions and has already released nine episodes, garnering millions of views, subscriptions, and support across its social media platforms.

For three months, 'Mind the Game' achieved massive success and relevance in the podcast space. In hindsight, it is way too good to have a sudden ending. With Redick and LeBron in action for the Lakers, a new host may temporarily seize control of the show and further help its brand grow.

    How about the others?

As long as it won't become a major distraction, the Lakers will undoubtedly give it a go about continuing the 'Mind the Game' podcast. As such, we can only wonder how Redick will decide and plan his other off-court endeavors.

As he commits himself to the Purple and Gold full-time, Redick has finally left his broadcasting and analyst job for ESPN. Yet beyond that and the 'Mind the Game,' he has another important matter to address about the future of his 'The Old Man and the Three' podcast, which has been widely acclaimed for years.

JJ can only be mindful of his main priority of coaching and guiding the Lakers. He cannot afford to juggle more balls than he can handle as he is about to enter the lion's den with all the pressure of the world under his shoulders.
