ROWAN COUNTY, N.C. ( QUEEN CITY NEWS ) — A search is underway for a Rowan County who is accused of sexually assaulting a child, authorities announced on Thursday.

The Rowan County Sheriff’s Office said on May 18, 2024, deputies were called to a home along Paradise Drive, just outside Salisbury.

While at the home, it was discovered a 12-year-old child and an 18-year-old man were inside the residence. Deputies said they saw evidence to suggest that the two had been sexually involved with each other, which led to further investigation.

The man, identified as Steward Allen Callahan-Fletcher, of Gold Hill, NC, was arrested on charges of contributing to the delinquency of a minor for providing the child with contraband.

Following an interview with the child and collecting further evidence, investigators said they believe intercourse and other sexual activities took place between the child and Fletcher the day of and before the response of the deputies.

Since his arrest in May, Fletcher was released from jail, and on June 25 this week, warrants were issued for two counts of first-degree statutory rape and indecent liberties with a child.

Anyone with information on Fletcher’s whereabouts is asked to call Det. Ryan Dangerfield at 704-216-8662 or Rowan County Crime Stoppers at 866-639-5245.
