A husband is in trouble with his wife over their future baby’s name.

He took to Reddit to share the scenario. He and his wife are expecting a baby , so they’ve been toying around with different baby names .

His wife brought up the name Amy, and after several weeks decided that was the one.

The man didn’t mention that he has an old girlfriend from high school named Amy. They dated for two years when they were teenagers, but since the relationship was a long time ago, he didn’t think it important.

“I didn’t see any point especially as the relationship was 7 years ago,” he said.

Then one day, the couple was out with some friends when the baby name came up. His friend casually said, “Oh, like your ex-girlfriend Amy.’

“My wife had a sour look on her face and questioned me about why I didn’t mention it and is now mad.”

She doesn’t want to use the name anymore. He thinks she’s being irrational, as they’ve been together for three years and married for one.

Commenters told him he should have mentioned the name to his wife. They think the two of them will be able to get past it though.

One said: “It’s not a major ---- up, but you should have told her. It would have been much worse if your friend didn’t say anything, and your wife only knew after naming the baby. Yeah the relationship was years ago, but you dated for years and I can see how awkward that can be for the wifey.”

“You could've said something like ‘oh that's my ex's name from 7 years ago’ or ‘no not that name, it's the same as my ex's name.’ You hiding it could lead to her thinking you still think about her,” another wrote.
