A man is in a bit of a pickle with his partner over what to call their unborn baby .

He popped on Reddit to spill the beans about the drama. They're expecting a little one and have been chucking around ideas for names.

His other half fancied the name Amy, and after a few weeks, she was set on it.

The man in question didn't let on that he used to go out with a girl called Amy back in his school days. They were an item for a couple of years as teens, but since it was donkey's years ago, he reckoned it wasn't worth mentioning.

"I didn't see any point especially as the relationship was 7 years ago," he admitted.

But then, while they were out with mates and chatting about baby names, one of his pals made a quip: "Oh, like your ex-girlfriend Amy.'"

That put his wife right off her game, and she wanted to know why he'd kept schtum about it, leaving her pretty miffed.

She's now dead against using the name. He reckons she's overreacting, considering they've been an item for three years and hitched for one.

Reddit users told him he ought to have given her the heads up about the name. They reckon they'll sort it out in the end though.

One commented: "It's not a major ---- up, but you should have told her. It would have been much worse if your friend didn't say anything, and your wife only knew after naming the baby. Yeah, the relationship was years ago, but you dated for years and I can see how awkward that can be for the wifey."

"You could've said something like 'oh that's my ex's name from 7 years ago' or 'no not that name, it's the same as my ex's name.' You hiding it could lead to her thinking you still think about her," another commented.
