    Furys Ferry Rd. opens following gas leak

    UPDATE | As of 12:25 Thursday afternoon, Furys Ferry road is back open.


    COLUMBIA COUNTY, Ga. (WJBF) According to Columbia County Sheriff’s Office , Furys Ferry Road between North Belair Road and Hardy McManus Road is currently closed due to a gas leak.

    It’s been confirmed that construction workers hit a line.

    Traffic has been shut down North of the intersection of Furys Ferry Road and North Belair Road – the Furys Ferry Road Wife Saver, CVS, and Shell gas station are at this location.

    They posted an alert on Facebook at 11:02 a.m. Thursday, 06-27-2024.

    Major Steve Morris says the WifeSaver and nearby daycare have been evacuated. NO injuries have been reported.

    The Sheriff’s Office is asking that those traveling or planning to travel in that area please seek an alternate route.

    The gas company is on the scene.
