POTTER COUNTY, Texas (KAMR/KCIT) – The Bureau of Land Management Oklahoma Field Office announced hunter registration changes to the hunting program for the Cross Bar Special Recreation Management Area in Potter County, Texas.

According to BLM officials, all hunters wishing to hunt in the area must enter their names into the Texas Parks and Wildlife Public Hunt System and hunting on the Cross Bar will remain limited to archery only and limited to the legal harvesting of white-tailed deer, mule deer and feral pigs.

Officials noted that hunting reservations for the area will no longer be accepted over the phone and all hunters’ names will be drawn through the lottery. Drawn hunters must comply with all hunting rules and regulations and abide by 43 CFR Part 8360 “Enforcement and Compliance” guidelines.

The Drawn Hunt Catalog is anticipated to be available beginning July 1, according to BLM officials, and states are responsible for managing wildlife within their borders for the trust and benefit of their residents.
