Ed Westwick and Amy Jackson's en-suite embodies the emerging 'spathroom' trend – their soothing aesthetic rivals a luxury hotel

Limewashed walls, soft textures, and wood accents can only mean one thing: a modern twist on traditional Italian luxury – and it's an aesthetic that comes into play in Ed Westwick's bathroom.

Gossip Girl actor Ed Westwick and actress Amy Jackson recently transformed a British countryside property into a beautiful family home – and part of their agenda involved turning their en-suite into a Southern European-inspired sanctuary that taps into one of the biggest bathroom trends of the year.

Working with luxury lifestyle brand LUSSO , Westwick and Jackson mastered the ever-popular 'spathroom' design movement – designed to bring wellness and hotel luxury into a domestic setting. Experimenting with the spathroom trend can be as small as investing in extra-fluffy towels or a more luxurious candle – but in Westwick's case, the line between a bathroom and spa space has never felt quite so blurred.

The couple's luxury bathroom space features LUSSO fixtures and fittings throughout, including a freestanding Cortese stone bath, a sleek modern toilet, and flawless marble basins – meaning the space is as functional as it is beautiful.

'We have been blessed and have experienced so much through our travels for work and pleasure. Italy has always been the place that stands out the most for its magic and taste. We wanted to do what we could to bring a little piece of that into our home,' Westwick comments. With contemporary Italian luxury as a brief, it's unsurprising that the space is the perfect backdrop to nailing the spathroom aesthetic.

'We wanted the en-suite to be a sanctuary. The type of place you look forward to coming back to at the end of a long day, sliding into the bath and just letting go,' Jackson adds. 'We wanted to have elegance but also something earthy and grounding, hence the combos we went with.'

'A bit of zen, that sanctuary feeling, and zero clutter,' Westwick adds.

However, the renovation wasn't without its challenges. With their en-suite nestled in the eaves of their countryside property, Westwick and Jackson also had to get creative when it came to maximizing shower space without compromising on the overall look and feel of their room. Space dictates, obviously. But something open which feels like it flows is important. The en-suite one is a steam room so that needed to be bigger so you can sit and chill,' Westwick explains.

'Time was [also] a factor for us! We didn’t have anywhere to go. We stayed with Amy’s mum for a bit and even rented a caravan, which was hilarious. So, time was definitely a factor.'
