Authorities are looking for a man who tried to kidnap a young boy at a Valencia community pool, California officials said.

The stranger asked the boy to go somewhere else with him at the Valencia Hills Homeowners Association community pool around 4:10 p.m. June 13, the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department said in a June 25 news release.

The man followed the boy, who rode away on his bicycle and escaped, deputies at the Santa Clarita Valley station said.

Neighbors told KTLA they believe the same man was seen by the pool a few days earlier.

Investigators ask anyone with information to call 661-260-4000, ext. 5618, or leave an anonymous tip at 800-222-8477.

Valencia is about a 40-mile drive north of downtown Los Angeles.
