DAVIESS COUNTY, Ky (WEHT) – According to the Daviess County Emergency Management Agency, I-165 is closed at the Fairview Drive overpass due to a semi-truck losing its load of molten aluminum in the northbound lanes.

At this time, both north and southbound lanes of I-165 are closed and are expected to remain closed for the next 6 to 10 hours. Drivers can detour using U.S. 231.

According to officials, once the containers that spilled the aluminum are cleared from the area, road crews will mill up the right lane and put down a base to allow traffic flow to resume.

On Friday, crews will follow the same process for the left lane. Officials say the base will be rough, unlike the smoothness of pavement, but will allow traffic to flow again, especially for the ROMP festival.

The road will be repaved next week, which should take about two days to complete.
