Tomato growers will want to take note, because one woman says she has figured out how to get back to basics and grow some tomatoes that actually taste the way we all remember them from growing up.

No, it's not some fancy new variety of tomatoes or an expensive soil amendment you'll need to buy, but instead just a DIY fertilizer recipe that apparently offers everything that your growing maters want and need to be successful.

Take a look at everything she puts into her mix and then watch and see how she applies it, allowing her to grow some tomatoes that she says are the envy of all her friends!

Just incase you weren't watching closely during @gardesnamia's video, we wrote it down for you. She says she uses 10 grams (.35 ounces) of yeast, 100 grams (3.52 ounces) of brown sugar, and 40 kilograms (roughly 10.54 gallons) of water. Then she lets it sit for 24 hours, allowing it to ferment, before she pours it into a bottle of gin.

You can apply it directly to your soil or put it in a sprayer and apply it to leaves of your plants.

While we're not positive what all of this will do for your plants (maybe the sugar makes it sweeter) she swears by the mix. That being said, we would recommend trying this on a single plant first, incase you don't get the same great results she did. This way you don't have to worry about killing your entire crop if her measurements (or my conversion of said measurements) are off!

If you want to use a tried and true method, there are others out there that have been tested over the years with great success!

Gardner Swears Tomatoes Grow Better With Epsom Salt Mix

You don't need to do any major math with this gardener's recipe , which just calls for a mix of water and salt to be applied to the soil around your plants. Apparently, it not only helps keep pest damage at bay, it also makes them produce a lot more fruit, which can give you a better harvest.

The secret to this mix lies in the magnesium, which tomatoes need a lot of in order to stay healthy.

    Tomatoes Are a Summer Staple

Just about every yard has at least one tomato plant in it each summer. Not only are these fruits a favorite of most folks, but they are one of the easier plants to add to the veggie garden .

So go ahead, try and whip up the OP's mix and see if you don't have better luck with your maters this year because of it! Then let us know how it works, because we're dying to know if there's any truth to her claims about getting that long forgotten flavor back into homegrown tomatoes.
