    Who is Dr. Jen Ashton?

    Dr. Jennifer Lee Garfein Ashton was born in George Air Force Base in California on April 23, 1969, and is a physician, author , and television correspondent.

    She served as the chief health and medical editor, as well as the chief medical correspondent for ABC News and GMA, and the cohost of GMA3: What You Need To Know.

    She was married to the late Robert Ashton from 1996 to 2017.

    The pair had two children together.

    In 2022, Jen wed Tom Werner .

    Where is Dr. Jen Ashton and why is she not on Good Morning America?

    Jen is not on GMA because she left the show , as well as ABC News, after 13 years.

    As USA Today reported, the famed physician said farewell on the morning of Thursday, June 27, 2024.

    “Some of the biggest moments in our country’s history in health we covered and that was an incredible honor and privilege to lead the No. 1 network in the country from the medical standpoint for that,” she said.

    “My mother was a nurse, my father was a cardiologist responsible for my passion for heart health. My brother is a reconstructive plastic surgeon,” she said, adding, “My kids are my kids.”

    Why did Dr. Jen Ashton leave Good Morning America?

    As USA Today reported, Jen is leaving GMA to focus on her new women’s wellness company, Ajenda .

    She announced her exit in April 2024, writing in an Instagram post at the time, “It has been an honor to be at ABC and help cover the biggest health issues in the country and world over the past 13 years

    “My coworkers have become more than friends; they’ve become family and have seen me through the biggest professional moments of my life. I feel fortunate to have worked with the best in the business.”

    During a June 25, 2024, appearance on The View , Jen spoke about her ABC departure and next chapter.

    “I am excited about the next stage and really focusing on what I’m board-certified in, which is women’s health and obesity medicine and nutrition,” she said.

    The physician continued, in part, “I’m looking forward to sleeping past four or five in the morning a little bit, but I’m also looking forward to the next chapter and really focusing on the areas that I’m board-certified in, so I’m excited.”
