(WJW) – Thousands of lawn chairs are being recalled after multiple people were hurt or had a finger amputated because of them.

The Cinmar Frontgate Resort Collection Newport Aluminum and Teak Chaises have a backrest that can “unexpectedly descend with force.”

Two people had partial finger amputation injuries. One person had their finger crushed and required surgery.

The recall involves all Cinmar Frontgate Resort Collection Newport Aluminum Chaises. They were sold in sets of two in five different colors.

“FRONTGATE” is printed in black lettering on a silver badge at the back of the chair.

About 70,000 chairs are affected in the recall.

The chairs are not being pulled. People who have purchased them are asked to immediately stop using them.

Cinmar will distribute free repair kits for people who submit a photo to the company.

The chairs were sold in Ohio, Georgia, Kentucky, North Carolina, Texas and online from February 2014 to December 2023 in Frontgate stores for between $600 and $1,400.
