Troup Co. man charged with murder in connection to Hogansville Road shooting

LaGRANGE, Ga. ( WRBL ) — The Troup County Sheriff’s Office (TCSO) says a man has been arrested in connection with a shooting that happened Wednesday afternoon.

According to police, TCSO officers were sent to 3891 Hogansville Road Wednesday at about 5 p.m. regarding a person being shot. When officers arrived they found Clayton Bartlett, 51, who was dead at the scene.

TCSO Criminal Investigations Division said Burns and Bartlett had an argument in the carport area of the house in which Burns approached Bartlett and shot him. Burns and Vayda then got into the truck and left before returning.

TCSO says, Timothy Dewayne Burns, 53, has been charged with murder and possession of a firearm during commission of a crime. Officers also arrested Cynthia Vayda, is being charged with tampering with evidence and false statements and writings.
