Former Natchitoches teacher arrested for alleged indecent behavior with student

NATCHITOCHES, La. ( KTAL/KMSS ) — A former Natchitoches Parish school teacher has been arrested in connection with an ongoing investigation involving indecent behavior with a student, according to Natchitoches Parish Sheriff Stuart Wright.

On Tuesday, Natchitoches Parish Sheriff’s Office detectives revealed on social media that the investigation began on Saturday, June 15th, after a school teacher was reportedly sending inappropriate messages via phone and social media to a juvenile student.

Detectives said they collected evidence obtained from the complainant for an offense report, which was then turned over to the NPSO Criminal Investigations Bureau and High-Tech Crime Unit and brought to the Superintendent of Natchitoches Parish School Board .

NPSO stated that upon learning about the allegations, Marques D. Washington, a 32-year-old teacher, was immediately terminated.

On Tuesday, they shared, Washington was booked into the Natchitoches Parish Detention Center and charged with one count of indecent behavior with a juvenile. He is awaiting bond.

Natchitoches detectives state, ‘No further information will be released at this time due to the ongoing sensitive investigation.’

They say the case will be sent to the Natchitoches Parish District Attorney’s Office for review.
