How to DIY Frozen and Fresh Dog Treats
The instructions are simple, too. Mix the Greek yogurt and honey together in a bowl and set to the side.
Next, Mom uses a dog treat silicone mold with several dog bone-shaped sections. She places two whole fresh blueberries in each dog bone section, then a few chopped up strawberry pieces in each as well.
After that, she spoons the yogurt honey mixture on top, filling each dog bone section.
The final step is to put the filled silicone tray into the freezer overnight, where they'll get perfectly chilled for a hot summer day.
"Pups deserve to be part of July 4th festivities too, duh," the video's caption reads. "Make these frozen dog treats for your pup next week to celebrate! Greek yogurt is great for your dog's gut health, honey is great for allergies, and berries are a great source of antioxidants for your dog. This treat recipe has it all."
In the comments, people were excited to try this one out, and a few had some extra instructions, too.
"You can also use coconut oil," one person suggested.
"Just bought all of those ingredients, so perfect!" another shared.
How to Help Your Dog Stay Cool in the Heat
These dog treats are perfect for summer because they're healthy and cooling plus they're also really easy to make ahead of time.
According to Blue Cross , keeping your dog hydrated is one of the best things (and most important) for hot weather. "You should give your dog plenty of opportunities to drink cool, fresh water," the organization suggests.
"Place multiple bowls in different spots around the house and in the garden. You can also put ice cubes in their water to keep it cold."
You can also help your dog stay cool by offering a wading pool or using cold and we towels so they can lower their body temperature.
Other things like cooling coats or collars and cooling mats can also be very helpful when the temperatures climb.
