Pie eating contests are one of the world's funniest traditions, I think. There is absolutely no reason for it ,and yet, summertime brings about all of the competitive eaters. What is it about summer that makes everyone want to eat?

Apparently, it's not just humans. On Monday, June 24th, one dog mom took her senior Pit Bull to a pie eating contest. Needless to say, he destroyed all of his opponents. He wiped the floor with them, and then licked their plates clean:

For @thedogobsessedemily's next video, I would love to see what she pays to feed this guy on a weekly basis. I just will never believe that it's not a lot. He's a hungry boy!

Joey Chestnut (AKA Weekend) is so funny to me. He's a Pit Bull, and his only real desire in life is to be the silliest goose around. He loves to go for walks and eat food... oh, and he loves to play with his sister, Zen Laya the St. Bernard. That is, when she's not traveling the country and performing in dog shows. She literally went to the Westminster Dog Show in New York City this year.

Weekend has five other siblings, too, and they're all technically performing dogs, but Zen Laya is really the one who stands out. She's amazing at her job, and an even more amazing sister off-the-clock. Just like you can catch her performing, you can catch her and Weekend playing together in the yard - and maybe even eating pie together. There's a contest he won!

Dog-Friendly Pies Are the Perfect Treat

Pie is so versatile. You can make them in tons of different sizes and flavors, so they'll never get bored, and they can be made to be incredibly refreshing. You have lots of options, like:

    1. A "whipped cream" pie that's literally just whipped cream in a pie tin.
      1. You can add some berries as a treat!
    2. A pumpkin pie made of pure pumpkin puree with an oat crust.
      1. Great for dogs who are a little backed up!
    3. A pie filled with their dog food, some tinned fish, a little bit of bone broth or sauces , etc.
      1. If your dog is getting bored of their everyday meals, this works wonders!
    4. A "birthday" pie with an oat base, a whipped-cream filling, and all of their favorite toppings.
      1. This is also a perfect treat for a pup's last day.

You can get tiny pie tins that make it really easy to portion out a single serving, or if you want to get really fancy (or if you, like Emily, have a million dogs) you could even make a regular sized pie so that everyone gets a slice!
