NEW BERN, N.C. (WNCT) — In Craven County, renovations are underway at Craven Pamlico Animal Services.

The work includes creating a new intake area. This will allow animal control officers to quarantine incoming animals and those waiting to be reclaimed. New interior and exterior windows to help with sound and temperature control will also be added. The adoption kennels will be resurfaced and the surgery suite will be divided, creating better air flow.

“It really is important for my staff members here who work so hard to care for these animals. It’ll give us a few more cages and allow us to help with disease prevention.” said Dr. Tanya Osler, Shelter Veterinarian and Director.

The renovations will increase the shelters holding capacity by a few kennels. The shelter hopes to have the renovations done by August.
