BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — Eduardo Rocha did everything he could to end gun violence in his neighborhood.

Still, his wife was shot and killed right in front of their home.

“Pues…la verdad es muy triste,” said Rocha.

With tears in his eyes, Eduardo Rocha says life is difficult as special days come around and the life of the party, Juana Zamora, isn’t there anymore. On a typical night three years ago, Zamora was watering her garden before bed, when she was shot by the front gate of her home.

“Habia muchos disparos continuamente,” said Rocha.

Rocha says gunshots were a regular occurrence around their home even before Zamora was killed. Rocha called 9-1-1 every time he heard shootings but says nothing was ever done before or after his wife was killed.

“Son muy negligentes, la verdad,” said Rocha.

He calls the Kern County Sheriff’s Office negligent. Now, three years have gone by with no answer from investigators.

“Nunca mas se han vuelto a comunicar conmigo para nada,” said Rocha.

Rocha says he’s called, left voicemails and sent emails, but never got feeback from detectives. KCSO told 17 News there are no updates in the investigation.
