(WKBN) – A replacement was chosen Wednesday to succeed Al Cutrona as Ohio State Representative in the 58th District and who will also be the Republican candidate in November for the 59th District seat.

Republican officials from Mahoning and Columbiana Counties selected 28-year-old Tex Fischer to replace Cutrona and be the candidate.

Fischer is the first vice-chairman of the Mahoning County Republican Party and co-founder of the political consulting firm H&F Strategies.

Meanwhile, four Democrats have applied to run in November against Al Cutrona for Ohio’s 33rd District Senate seat formerly held by Mike Rulli.

They are Youngstown City Councilman Julius Oliver, former Youngstown Law Director Marty Hume, East Palestine activist Jess Conard, and David Mosure who’s retired from MS Consultants.

The top Democrat officials from Mahoning, Columbiana and Carroll Counties will meet July 17 to decide.
