Good morning, I'm Will Richmond at The Providence Journal and this is the Daily Briefing.
Throughout the school year, our sports department combs the fields, courts, tracks and gyms to highlight the best high school players across Rhode Island.
It's not an easy task. While we may not have the glitz and glamor of five-star recruits, Rhode Island is full of student-athletes doing incredible things in their respective sports. And while we honor those players after their season is complete with the naming of our All-State teams, we like to give them a little bit more than just their names in the paper.
Last night we did just that at the annual All-State Rhode Island High School Sports Award show at the Veterans Auditorium.
Find all of our honorees here and then check out The Journal's Jonny Williams' coverage of the event that included guest speaker Nicole Mendes, who plays professionally with the New York Rise and is an ESPN softball analyst. Not to mention who helped to build Oklahoma University into a college softball dynasty.

New research has revealed the best value vacation spots in the U.S., with Rhode Island ranking seventh.
The study, commissioned by Cloudbeds, a leading hospitality management software provider for independent properties, analyzed data from travel review sites, online travel agencies, and official government reports to measure factors including average cost of accommodation, availability of public transport, number of attractions, and average weather conditions.
