HENRICO COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) — You can get a taste of Caribbean culture at the 4th annual Caribbean American Heritage Festival set to take place at Dorey Park on Saturday, June 29.

This year’s festival begins at 11 a.m. and kicks off with a parade at the recreation center. The day will also feature live entertainment with reggae, dancehall, and soca music. Food trucks with traditional Caribbean cuisine will also be onsite.

Ruben Pierre-Louis is the president of the Adopt Haiti Project , the organization that hosts the annual celebration, and says the festival was created as an opportunity to reconnect.

“We have a very large, diverse group from Jamaicans, Trinidadians, Haitians; it goes on and on. This particular festival was created because of that,” he explained. “I wanted them to have a place to come and meet each other.”

The free festival will take place from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. at Dorey Park, located at 2999 Darbytown Road in Henrico County.
