"Our foster dog met a new dog," the text on the video reads. "And she was not happy."

In the clip, Poutine walks into the room carrying a stuffy in her mouth when something closer to the bed watches her eye.

Mom goes closer to the pup so we can all see what she's looking at, and it turns out there's a mirror right there. But Poutine didn't understand the concept of reflection.

"She just didn't realize that she was the new dog," the text on the screen continues.

The sweet dog continued to look in the mirror, confused about who that dog was and tried to tell them it was time to back away. Poutine growled to alert the dog that it was time to leave.

She also seemed really confused about how her foster dad was both right beside her and in front of her with that other dog.

Poutine was brave, though, and walked to the mirror while her dad tried to explain who that dog was she was seeing.

"Hopefully, Poutine can learn to coexist with herself one day," the video's caption reads.

In the comments, people expressed their love for this sweet dog and her confusion about the whole mirror reflection thing.

One person shared, "I have a 13-pound dog who is always VERY upset by the dog on her bag of dog food."

"My dog has beef with 0 dogs, except his own reflection," another shared.

"She's Ike....stay away from my dad!" someone else wrote.

"The cutest moment of realization," added another.

"Well, in her defense, that first dog totally had her toy!" joked someone else. "She has to protect her belongings!"

How to Help Your Rescue Dog Settle In

According to How I Met My Dog , whether you're adopting a rescue or fostering one, they've had a lot of change happen in a short time, and helping them get comfortable and settled as fast as possible is a big benefit for everyone. And going slow but steady is the best way to approach it.

"Immediately introducing your new pup to all of your friends and family is tempting and almost impossible to resist," the site explains. "But, now that you’re a new pet parent, considering what’s best for your dog is important too. Taking it easy for the first week of your dog’s new life is a great way to help them settle into their new surroundings and get to know you better."

Some things you can do to help your pup settle in include having a safe space they can go to that has everything they need, but it's away from the noises and the hustle and bustle. Also, ensuring they have a routine so they know when to expect can help ease any anxieties.
