After hearing it for the first time, a group of adorable Golden Retriever puppies were captivated by the sounds of a helicopter.

On June 26, 2024, TikTok user California Golden Retrievers (@caligoldenretrievers) shared a video of a group of really cute Golden Retriever puppies who experienced the sights and sounds of a helicopter, and their reaction is so cute. Take a look!

It looks like the pups are winding down their day, enjoying some fresh air before heading in for the night. They're surrounded by toys and each other but then something catches their attention.

"POV: You're a puppy and you hear a helicopter for the first time," the text on the screen reads.

As the helicopter whirls above, the dogs look around, trying to find the source of the sound. Some are really interested, getting up off the ground to look all around, while a few others seem a little less interested and just lift up their heads and go back to whatever it is they are doing.

The noise was pretty loud, and since it was getting dark outside, the helicopter wasn't easy to spot up in the sky. Some of the dogs looked a little scared at the sound but most of them seemed to stop and stare in wonder.

"Some were curious and some were a little spooked of the loud noise," the video's caption reads. "We will be listening to more helicopter noise off YouTube to desensitize."

In the comments, most people were staring in wonder at all the tiny and adorable Golden Retriever puppies in one video.

"So many nuggets everywhere!" one person shared.

"They are so beautiful," another added.

"Love how they're just in sync looking around to find the source," added someone else. "Baby floofs."

"That's like the best puppy playground I've ever seen," another person shared, speaking of all the space and toys available for all the little puppies.

"I need all of them," someone else declared.

    "Babies," shared another.

How to Help Your Dog Who Has Noise Anxiety

"Noise anxiety in dogs is a phobia or strong feeling of fear around loud noises, like sounds from fireworks or thunderstorms," Dog Time explains. "It can result in many anxious behaviors or even cause dogs to bolt out of fear and get lost."

Unlike with people, we can't easily reason with dogs who are scared of noises, whether it's from a helicopter, fireworks, or anything in between. We could help a person get used to sounds by explaining what or where the noise came from, and that would help ease anxiety. But we must be more creative with dogs because we can't reason with them the same way.

But noise anxiety is a pretty common issue for dogs, with Dog Time explaining that "somewhere between 5 million and 15 million dogs suffer from noise anxiety severe enough for their humans to seek help."

There are a few things you can do to help your dog who has anxiety, including limiting their exposure to sound, but that's not always possible. In other cases, slowly desensitizing them by exposing them to the sounds in small and quiet steps can help them get used to the noise and realize that it won't harm them. But this might not be the best option for all pups.

Some other ways you can help is to offer a quiet space, or something like a pressure blanket, or for dogs who can't shake it, there are medications available. Any dog parent who is worried their pup has noise anxiety should check in with their vet.
