Woman charged with pointing gun at daughter

PLYMOUTH, LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — A woman is facing charges after police say she was caught on video pointing a gun at her 5-year-old daughter.

According to the Plymouth Borough Police, in November 2023 officers were contacted by the Larksville Police about a child abuse allegation that happened at a home in Plymouth.

The victim, a 5-year-old girl, was in the custody of her family due to her mother, Candise Chulada, 34, of Plymouth, using narcotics, detectives said.

Police say family members of the victim spoke with officers after they discovered “disturbing” videos of Chulada on the child’s tablet.

As stated in the affidavit, during the video Chulada was seen wielding a rifle in the living room of her home while her daughter was lying on a couch and then pointed the gun at the victim.

In the video Chulada was also seen with a large knife, flipping couch cushions, mumbling under her breath stating “If there is anyone in the couch, you better come out now ’cause I’m about to stab a (expletive),” according to court documents. Investigators say Chulada then stabbed the cushion next to the victim twice with the knife.

In a second video, police said they saw Chulada walking behind her daughter holding a black handgun.

Chulada is charged with child endangerment and simple assault. She was released on a $5,000 unsecured bail.
