‘I Feel Duped!’ The View Gets Fiery as Hosts Call for Biden to Be Replaced After Debate Performance

The hosts of The View found themselves split over President Joe Biden’s debate performance the night prior with several around the table calling for Democrats to start scrambling for a replacement.
“It pains me to say this today, but I think President Biden needs to step down and be replaced,” Sara Haines said on Friday’s The View after calling the debate “really hard to watch.”
She clarified that she would vote for Biden over Donald Trump in November, but argued the only real shot at beating Trump is finding another candidate. Haines accused Democrats of being too dismissive of concerns about the president’s age.
Former Trump White House official Alyssa Farah Griffin called Biden’s performance “stunningly worse than what I expected” and agreed he needs to step down.
“He needs to put country before his own ambition and he needs to step aside and pass the baton,” she said.
Griffin later declared she felt “duped” by Biden’s team considering the reports about the extensive preparation the president was doing before the debate.
“I feel duped! I feel like I’ve been told this guy’s doing gymnastics at night!” she said.
Sunny Hostin was more reserved in her criticism, only saying “maybe” Biden should step down, but acknowledging that the debate was a loss for him.
“Maybe he needs to go, maybe he needs to be honest with himself and the American people. He can bow out at this time with grace and dignity,” she said.
Hostin then called it “ironic” Republicans are not discussing replacing Donald Trump when he’s a convicted felon. She called the former president a racist and Republicans “feckless” for empowering him.
“Why are we as Democrats — those of us who are Democrats — calling for our nominee to change?” she asked.
“Because he’s losing!” Griffin said over audience applause.
Ana Navarro called Biden’s performance at the debate “worrisome,” but also excitedly backed Biden.
“Until Joe Biden tells me he’s giving up, I’m not giving up on Joe Biden,”she declared. “To me, the binary choice remains the same.”
The choice, she added, is between an “old man” and a “bad man.”
“[Biden] is a man who speaks with a weak voice, but who tells me the truth in a weak elderly voice,” she said.
“Joe Biden could not get through that debate and could not convey what either of you just did,” Griffin shot back. “I was dying for Biden to do better. He could not articulate a vision, the threat of Trump, get through a policy statement. The stakes are too high in this election. They’re foundationally too high to run this man.”
